John E. Foss

John E. Foss, Ph.D.

John Foss is the pioneer in the application of pedology to archaeological investigations and has worked on the Thunderbird, Shawnee Minisink, Topper, and Kenewick sites, to name just a few.  His international work includes research in France, Italy, Greece, Jordan, and Central and South America.  He is currently Emeritus Professor of pedology at the University of Tennessee and president of Soils International, Inc.
