Jared received his B.S. in archaeology from Juniata College in 2008 and began working with AXIS that summer. He lived and worked based out of Xalapa, Mexico in 2007-2008, specializing in prehistoric Olmec and post-Olmec cultures in the Tres Zapotes, Oaxaca, Vera Cruz, and Papantla areas. He has worked closely with Sara Ladrón de Guevara at the Museo de Antropolgía de Xalapa (MAX) serving as a curator and special projects director. He has also worked closely with Dr. Pedro Jimenez Lara and INAH (Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia) on projects in Papantla and Oaxaca. In summer of 2011, Jared continued work started the previous year with the Pennsylvania State University in search of further remains of Colonial period Fort Shirley. Though significant work was conducted, he and other members of AXIS plan to return in summer 2012.
