Steve Warfel was The State Museum of Pennsylvania’s Senior Curator of Archaeology 1980 through 2007. He has actively conducted archaeological investigations on prehistoric and historic period sites for the past thirty-seven years. Public education in archaeology is a strong personal interest. At The State Museum he initiated and produced a popular annual Workshops In Archaeology program for general audiences. From 1991 through 2003, Steve instructed archaeological field school classes in cooperation with various colleges and universities at Commonwealth historic sites Ephrata Cloister, Eckley Miners Village, Fort Augusta, and the Joseph Priestley House and Laboratory. In 2009, Steve began work on the excavation of colonial era Fort Morris in Shippensburg, PA.
