Excavation at Camelback Rockshelter in Monore County, PA continues. To date excavations have reached a depth of 1.5 meters and have produced artifacts ranging from the Early Archaic through the Late Woodland periods. In addition to tight interval excavation and prodigious spatial data collection, soil samples are being taken for further laboratory analysis including: determination of particle size distribution, phytolith analysis, and macrobotanical analysis. Lithic analysis is also being performed for artifacts recovered. If you would like to participate to gain practical experience in these areas or for further information contact Jonathan Burns.
